This morning we were at the dog park with our ~1 year old GSP, as we often are. There was an older GSP that comes there a lot, as well as three or four other dogs all happily playing. Sometimes our GSP, Copper, gets running so fast that he doesnt watch where hes going, and today it came back to bite him. He was excitedly running after some of the other dogs and didnt see one of the metal picnic tables that are in the dog park, and ran his left shoulder right into it. Normally if we see him coming in too hot close to something solid, we try to call him away from it and re-direct him, but it happened too fast this time. Ive seen our boy come out of similar collisions (though not with a metal table) just fine, but he immediately stopped, held up his foot and began to whine and silent-scream. We rushed him to the vet but he was able to walk in the door (thankfully) and they diagnosed it as some soft-tissue bruising and hes on painkillers for the next few days. Has anyones GSP had a similar injury? I know theres not much we can do to prevent it in the future, but it would be nice if we could.
