The company income at the time was 2.5 billion. They bet the whole company on the future of a single product. They put it all on the line, hoping it would work and be accepted by the kinds of people that buy big computer systems. Theres not a CEO alive that would do that today. They dont even bet their own salaries on their companys future. They continue to sit on piles of cash, sending it all off-shore to avoid paying taxes on it because of some dreamed up crap about how weak the economy is.
