This morning, while calming my stupid dog about the non-existent - TopicsExpress

This morning, while calming my stupid dog about the non-existent storm, I was watching some history show about the cold war. IBM spent 5 billion dollars developing the IBM System/360 main frame. The company income at the time was 2.5 billion. They bet the whole company on the future of a single product. They put it all on the line, hoping it would work and be accepted by the kinds of people that buy big computer systems. Theres not a CEO alive that would do that today. They dont even bet their own salaries on their companys future. They continue to sit on piles of cash, sending it all off-shore to avoid paying taxes on it because of some dreamed up crap about how weak the economy is. PS - we were living in a time where we were taxing the richest at at 91% marginal rate, and capital gains taxes were 25%.
