This mornings gratitude: 1. for being born in the 20th Century into a world that was (still) wildly polycultural - where despite the best efforts of colonisers the ethnosphere was still vibrant. 2. for growing up in Melbourne, a multicultural city, where at school we were not all Anglo and white bread, Australia had been providing refuge for immigrants for decades 3. for having had the fortune to find myself in Yuendumu, NT when I was 22 years old and unwittingly beginning an adventure and life path of living and working with Indigenous Australians, the most ancient people on earth. Through them I found my calling as an inter-cultural mediator and advocate of cultural diversity 4. for the having had the privilege of meeting and experiencing so many different people of different cultures who shared their knowledge and understandings with generosity, grace and humour. 5. for the sheer madness, frustration and fun of inter-cultural communication. My partner sent me this link the other day because he likes sport and is Nigerian. I
