This one is fairly recent, but it is SO important to our Active Self Protection that I need to share it again. (plus this one is in color and better resolution) Three on one? No problem if your ASP is covered! Lessons: 1. The good guy (an off duty Sheriffs officer) used his car and the pump to shield himself from two of the three bad guys. He made a funnel with his environment so that he could focus on one bad guy. Smart move! Dont fight three at once if you can prevent it. 2. He waited for his moment and used concealment and obscurity to keep his intentions unknown. I am sure he said that he was getting his wallet. Be submissive in language and demeanor until you have the advantage. 3. He never hesitated. Three armed baddies? No time for games. Shoot to stop the threat and stop it completely. 4. Notice that he moved IN to the bad guy. He controlled his firearm, moved in, and took a perfect shot. Great plan! If you cant get out of a fight, get into it. 5. One slight critique (not a criticism): he stayed focused on baddie #1 and admired his work a bit. If youre worried about that bad guy, hit him a few more times and then transition to the other guys as quickly as possible! Great work by this officer. He went home to his family and ended a criminals career. Attitude. Skills. Plan.
