This ones for you, Jack (& Jackie, of course!): Yesterday - TopicsExpress

This ones for you, Jack (& Jackie, of course!): Yesterday evening, Keith took me out on the bike for a nice cruise to Saxton and back. It had been a while yet I quickly adjusted to Biker Babe status as I hurriedly put my helmut on and placed my feet on MY pedals. Keith gives very clear instructions with no room for error nor extra time to get adjusted. :D So, we travel from Robertsdale to Broad Top, enjoying the beautiful weather, crisp wind and gorgeous mountain scenery. First curve (outside of Broad Top, heading to Dudley) I start wondering if Im doing the right thing--do I lean in against him, leaning when he does or just stay balanced on my BBP (biker babe perch)? Thank God for the straight stretch there before Dudley where we leveled out but then he proceeded to speed up so quickly that I had no time to think about it. I tried my best to get into a yoga-like pose to keep myself in unison with Keith and the bike, giggling to myself and thinking, do all biker babes go through this while in training? When will I be comfortable enough to reach that moment of biker-nirvana? About then, I noticed that I could see my face on the back of his helmut, looking good for the most part, until we hit the cold spots down past Marcoccis and then again from Coalmont to Middletown. All the while, Im still balancing, trying to keep my back straight and belly tucked in--who knew the phenomenal workout my Mama Belly and back would get while riding a bike?! Ive decided to call them BBC (biker babe CRUNCHES). Not sure what the official lingo is called but Im developing my own by necessity. Ive asked Keith to buy me a BBPB (biker babe pony pench) to help my shortie self to mount the bike but his response, get those little legs working and deal with it. (He acts like a drill sargeant.) (Note to self: Need to remind him that he should let me on first...who knows, what is standard practice?) By the time we hit the straight stretch down on 26 near the BP (otherwise known as Saxton Outdoor Supply), Ive finally gotten the hang of things, balancing, breathing in and out, hanging on to his shirt but not too tight to prevent me from enjoying the ride. Then, as we pushed 80 mph, I finally felt it: BIKER NIRVANA. The ride home was glorious! Im hooked. Looking forward to my next ride.
