This parent would appreciate your feedback: Hi Janet (& friends), About two months ago my then 15 month old started copying the moo sound for cow. She didnt copy many sounds, and only used the words hi and all done at that point. We were so excited that we skyped with family and showed them almost immediately. It was precious! She would perk her tiny lips into a kiddy face and MOO with all her might. We all encouraged her during that skype session, but laughed a lot too. It was with joy, my husband and I were so impressed, it was adorable. She never did it again. A big part of my heart believes we embarrassed her. She hardly copies any sounds at all. I try to encourage her to speak, but she isnt interested in making new sounds or naming things at all. I know each child moves at their own pace, and itll come with time, Im just really worried that the one time we reacted so poorly that now she doesnt want to talk. I feel terrible about it. Today shes hardly said much more, now shes added uh oh, up, that and oh boy. What can I do to make to make it better? Shes 17 months old now. I really feel awful.
