This past Sunday we set our clocks back one hour for the end of Daylight Saving Time. Although Daylight Saving Time is observed in 70 countries around the world, it is not universally observed, even within the United States. Hawaii and most of Arizona do not observe Daylight Saving Time. Daylight Saving Time was originally used to decrease energy consumption from artificial lights; however, as more of our modern energy consumption comes from heating and air-conditioning, ongoing research questions if Daylight Saving Time still significantly reduces our energy consumption.
