This past week, weve seen the worst sensationalized Journalism - TopicsExpress

This past week, weve seen the worst sensationalized Journalism this country has ever experienced in the nauseating coverage of the Michael Brown case, in a city Im proud to claim as home, St. Louis. The fact that the mainstream media enjoys this as opportunity to create racial divide, drive ratings, while the likes of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson see it as another opportunity get in the limelight....should upset everyone, but actually seems to be a tail that wags the dog. Just look at the ratings. We feed this crap by not turning the channel, an editor for CNN literally called us idiots for it. In this story, personally I tend to err on the side of the cops protecting our livelihoods, and believe innocent until proven guilty. That being said, the cop COULD BE guilty, I dont know...I wasnt there. The facts will unfold over time for real discussion, instead of regurgitated media hype. There will be a day in court where a decision is made my an objective jury, whose seen all the evidence. If they determine, hes not guilty, the story our media has sensationalized will only lead to more violence, and destruction of innocent peoples lives. HOWEVER, All that being said, the real reason for my post is to support REAL journalism. James Foley, a REAL American Journalist and HERO, CHOSE to visit the Middle East and was captured by ISIS. I should add, it was the 2nd time he was captured...unfortunately this time, it led to his head being cut off and shown to the world. Acts like his are REAL journalism, and heroism. The man CHOSE to put his life on the line to tell the story of what terrorism looks like, and how it damages a society. His family deserves all our thoughts and prayers, and they should know their son was a hero. By the way, our military does this selflessly every single day. Its ok to thank them too. Its time as a country, we put down our iPhones, stop worrying about our tweets, our selfies, or whatever the latest Kardashian fad is and realizing the 21st century includes an evil that has every intention of making 9/11 (which is what last got our attention) look like a picnic. If we can find it fun to dump buckets of ice on our head, and let that go viral...I would have to imagine stories of heroism could as well. At least, Id hope so. My 2cents, but admittedly Im guilty of it all too.
