This phenomenon is often referred to as REALITY CONSTRUCTION. People throughout history and around the world have engaged in it, from believing that women who think and express their thoughts are witches and therefore must be burned to believing that Jews are cheaters and therefore must be beaten to death, or that Africans are only good as slaves or to work in gold mines, or that Muslims are all vicious Taliban murderers and therefore must not be allowed to get visas, or that Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush are both down-to-earth real guys that can be TRUSTED 100%. All these reality constructions have done nothing but damage to life on earth. It seems that those constructions work much better than actually sitting down, doing ones homework, checking facts, and then doing ones own thinking. One of the people who definitely did not get sucked into this false reality construction was August Landmesser, a German worker during the Nazi period. He realized quickly what was going on when the anti-Semitic Nazis wanted him to divorce the love of his life who was half Jewish.
