This photo was taken just a few minutes ago...it may not look like a lot is going on, but actually several major themes of the carriage industrys struggle are going on here...allow me to explain.... This is the shiny, muscular, tractable, gorgeous Tyson Tyson is watching the folks from the TV show Law and Order set up a shot that he will be in. Two carriages were hired for the shows shoot today. This is an example of how the The Famous Horse Drawn Carriages of Central Park are part of the fabric and the economy of this city; we are routinely hired for TV shows, movies, commercials, and even the stage, as we are a colorful and recognizable NYC icon. One of the other themes represented in this pic is the INCREDIBLE hypocrisy of celebrities who have jumped on the anti-carriage bandwagon - because none other than infamous carriage-basher ALEC BALDWIN will be in this shot today!! Alec Baldwin has lent his name, fame, and financial support to the anti-carriage ranks since the early 1990s; he has been a know-nothing gadfly at every opportunity. And yet, here he will be today, obviously having NO problem taking a paycheck from a job that USES horse-drawn carriages. And this isnt the first time - AB actually RODE IN ONE OF OUR CARRIAGES on the last season of his OWN SHOW, 30 Rock. All the while trying to put us out of business. The radical animal rights people give Baldwin a total pass, just as they give other celebrities who shill for them, like Lea Michele, who is rabidly anti-carriage but whose big movie New Years Eve began AND ended with a NYC horse drawn carriage going through the streets of NYC.
