This poem is sad mostly because it is so true. I do know that I was lucky to have had a great love for 19 years. I envy couples who hold hands and those who finish each others sentences who eat from each others plates who look at each other across a room reassuring the other with fleeting eye contact who straighten a collar brush off a piece of lint who are welcome in each others space I envy couples just because they have each other they have someone to talk to every morning as they wake up and every evening as they go to bed I envy couples who care and who are always there for each other I envy them because I have no on anymore
