This post is a follow-up to the post I wrote on Tuesday July 29th detailing a real estate transaction where the listing agent charged his clients a 7.5% commission, keeping 4.5% for himself. The closing took place yesterday, and the sellers agent was too busy to attend the closing and asked us to overnight his commission check. On a side note... I thought the buyers agent was going to fall off his chair when he looked at the HUD-1 and saw the listing agents commission. Fortunately, the overwhelming majority of real estate, mortgage and title professionals dont do business this way. At this point in my career Ive been involved in more than 10,000 real estate closings and have a pretty good idea as to who you should avoid. Needless to say this guy is now on that list. If youre in need of a real estate agent or mortgage professional, check out our website or just reach out to us. We only refer people that we know will have your best interests as their priority, and have no affiliations with third party service providers that line their pockets at your expense.
