This post is directed toward Darrell, whos been posting with me (&, to his credit, in cordial fashion) in the CBS/Benghazi thread below. Darrell, I know your kind. In your mind NOTHING is the presidents/democrats fault and EVERYTHING is G.W. Bushs/republicans fault. Though you seem intelligent, this simply is irrational. For people like you the president could be filmed by multiple sources at high noon on the steps of the White House nailing a 6-year old child with a round house left, kicking him in the groin, then while hes doubled over in pain elbow dropping him to the ground, then once on the ground be caught on film spitting & urinating on him -- and youd blame it on the kid. (More accurately, youd blame republicans.) Well, heres a post I put on my personal wall earlier today - what do you do with this? This is Illinois. In Illinois there are no republicans. Much like Detroit, much like California, much like Scranton, Stockton,Gary, San Bernadino, etc., the entire state is a living example of the results of single-party rule, nothing-but-liberal-policy domination for a decade or more. Who do you blame this on? GWB? * [exact cut/paste of my own writing earlier today] Between the highest murder rate in the nation, the second highest taxes in the country, the second worst traffic in the nation, the highest level of criminal corruption among government officials in the country, and the weather, it should be no surprise that businesses and employers are fleeing Illinois, Cook County and Chicago. Just as bad, recently released unemployment statistics show that state leaders have also failed in attracting new businesses to Illinois. Ouch. Hate to say I told you so, but I said/wrote back in 2012 when the Illinois state legislature voted to DOUBLE both personal & corporate income taxes that youd see employers leaving the state in droves. Although, I thought itd take 5-10 years to see the net affect - on that point I was wrong. What will happen next? I can easily tell you. (The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.) The legislative makeup of Chicago & Illinois very closely resembles that of Detroit. As the tax/revenue base continues to flee and the coffers from which the myriad programs must be paid continues to dry -- rather than reign in spending the uber-liberal Illinois legislature will instead opt to raise taxes on the remaining individuals & businesses. Once they land in the basement, theyll break out the shovels. People sleeping with bars on their windows, fast food joints installing bullet-proof glass, stopping to pay a toll every few miles, sky high property taxes, sky high gasoline taxes,..... Unless the people, the voters of the state of Illinois vote to restore some balance to their state capital...this lands no where good. I guarantee it. illinoisherald/articles/2014/q2/illinois-50th-nation-87-unemployment-rate/
