This post is essentially for our Well Control candidates who have had to put up with me moaning, groaning and trying to teach, (whilst hobbling about on two walking sticks) because of my back pain since around February this year! Last week I finally went to the spinal unit in Woodend in Aberdeen with Kerin, they were fantastic by the way, and was subjected to being pulled about, X-rays etc, etc for over 3 hours!. The outcome was I need a total knee replacement, a hip replacement and back surgery where my sciatica nerve is trapped and being crushed.....all on the left side! It looks as though they are going to work backwards, knee then hip and if that doesnt work then back surgery as a last resort. The X-rays were amazing, you could see everything clearly, I even found out I was constipated from taking strong pain killers.....okay, too much information!! Anyway, Ive lost 4 in height, twas 58 when I joined up and are 54 now, even allowing for shrinkage due to age thats a hell of a lot, and a few days ago cut 2-1/2 off all my walking sticks! However, in spite of all this Im happier than Ive been for months because I know there is something wrong with me its not my imagination and it can be sorted.......again thanks to Kerin, friends, family, fantastic staff (couldnt have survived without all the people on our team), everyone who knows me and to all the people out there (of whom there are many) who are worse off than I am......never give up!
