This stems back to secondary school, despite the fact that I took three sciences for my GCSEs when I got to choose my subjects I asked for Art Drama and music, but I was told that Im not allowed to take three arts I have to choose a more serious subject, something that would be useful in my life. So eventually I talked them down to letting me have art and drama and I had to drop music to take history instead. Then this Art isnt important for you attitude carried on afterwards, when I wanted to go to college, initially I wasnt allowed to study Art in college because I failed my Maths GCSE they agreed to let me take Art on the condition that I redo my Maths exams which wasnt cheap! I failed maths a further three times that year and eventually I was told that I keep missing my grade by one mark, but the teachers arent allowed to discuss with me which questions or areas on the exam paper I was getting wrong each time. I couldnt afford to do another maths exam and keep paying to go to college full time without a job so I was pretty much left with no choice but to quit college. True story.
