This story about Brittany has been bouncing around the internet for about a week. Well over a million people have seen it. Many more have shared it. I guarantee it has effected everyone that has read it in one way or another. When I first read it, I was crushed. How could someone so smart, beautiful, loved, and young be over taken by such a terrible disease? Then it started to click that no of these things mattered. It doesnt matter who they are, what theyve done with their time, who loves them, what they vote for, etc. Everyone was put on this earth with the freedom to chose what they do with their body and soul. Choosing when to leave this world is no exception. Close to three years ago I lost a very dear friend to suicide. He was born with a terrible birth defect that completely destroyed his potential to chase any dreams he wanted to live. He was given a life expectancy from his doctors that hung over his head for years. On a quite October evening, he decided to make it his choice. I will miss him for the rest of my life, but I support his decision to live his life the way he chose. Brittany, you are touching lives in the last days of yours. At minimum youve reminded me to live my live my life. To be grateful for my health, my family, and my friends. God bless you. The world is a better place because you are in it.
