This story is long, and I am sorry, but please read!! I saw a story on ABC World News Tonight that made my blood pressure raise itself about 50 points in 15 seconds. It was their "Real Money" segment. The main correspondent and the women they found to help her with it wired up and went to the mall. Lady finds a jacket it is $25.00, she takes it and heads to the counter, and then she asks the clerk if they have any coupons. The clerk responds that she has one for 15% off which she will be happy to apply to the purchase. The lady, undeterred by the mere 15%, asks if there is any other discounts that can be combined with the purchase. The clerk informs her that there was a mail out coupon which she can use with it. The lady asks if it is available in store, and the clerk responds no. She explains it is a coupon you must bring in with you. The lady asks for the manager, the clerk calls the manager, and voila the discount is given and the lady gets the jacket for $5.44 from the 25$ original price. AS A PERSON WHO WORKS IN RETAIL, I CAN TELL YOU THIS IS BAD!!! THIS IS NOT THE WAY IT SHOULD WORK. I WAS TOTALLY INFURIATED BY THE ENTIRE STORY, TELLING THE ENTIRE VIEWING AUDIENCE HOW TO GET ONE OVER ON THE RETAIL INDUSTRY WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS DOING!! THIS IS WHY BUSINESSES GO OUT OF BUSINESS!!. STOP THE INSANITY.
