This story is very sad! I do not think this woman should receive life in prison as her actions were not premeditated nor was she intentionally trying to kill someone. Seems all to eerie that our judicial system is so apt to convict and sentence non violent criminals and less apt to convict and sentence violent criminals. Many get away scotch free and never see prison cells until its too late or they kill someone and it hits close to home! I just think that laws and sentences should be reevaluated esp in cases like these. She is not a murderer! She made a mistake to do something humane and that was saving the life of an animal what difference would it have made if she was doing this to save a humans life or a line of children? Would people be so quick to judge? I think many people have stopped to help an animal or animals without ever thinking there could be consequences and repercussions for doing this.
