This story makes it all too clear that we need to do a better job of educating others about autism in general, and that we need to make neighbors aware of and understand our children. Were fond of saying It takes a village but if the village doesnt know or understand, there will be heartbreaking stories like this again. Incredibly sad on all fronts, the man with autism , the staff member who was unable to de escalate and the homeowner who will now live with this. . If you need a possible format for a letter to share with neighbors call the Center, it might save your childs life.
