This summer when the kids first started, their goal was to each - TopicsExpress

This summer when the kids first started, their goal was to each learn about the objects in the 100 Stories exhibit. I didnt expect them to learn about each object, so we turned it into a tag team tour; each one would learn about so many objects and then turn it over to the next individual. The one painting that all of them had to learn about, is the mural that was created around the American Indian Activity Center. This room is soon to be re-named the George Flett Plateau Art & Reseach Center (his Indian name will also be acknowledged: Spear in the Ground). Ric Gendron, and his son, created this mural. I want to thank my Bro (Ric) for coming to the MAC and sharing his story about the mural. One of the kids (Faith Jackson) became very interested one of the exhibits from Patrick Siler. All of the other kids also enjoy his work, so they have learned about his work and take people through his exhibit. The following is a comment that I found on the internet: Patrick Siler embraces the human condition through an affirming and comical portrayal of commonplace, everyday moments. Often a nostalgic “Main Street,” or a shabby interior sets the stage for Siler’s disparate characters to interact. Siler reflects back to us a humble and occasionally unflattering view of humanity. We see ourselves, accepting and perhaps even forgiving our own flawed nature with the perspective of a little humor. Also, Artist Patrick Siler’s recent outdoor wall mural holds a prominent position in downtown Pullman. As he completes the third and final panel this summer, the Museum of Art/WSU will present an exhibition of the extensive work that goes into the art. Mr. Siler is scheduled to talk to the teen docents at 1:00 PM. Hopefully Cain and Todd (Benson) will stick around and listen to him. Sounds like a Crazy Cool day of interaction with three Cool Dudes. Again, if you are planning to attend please contact me, so we can move it to a larger room: work: 363-5314.
