This term the makeup of elected members includes a number of self professed financial and business wizards, who collectively appear to have failed to identify any efficiencies in staff numbers or operations - NONE! The Annual Plan budget was riddled with $millions in unexplained line items and increases. Begs the question, did they even read it, understand it? It seems not. Reality shows quite the opposite as staff numbers increase and savings are not savings at all, mostly just deferments. Underspends from this year are being used to mischievously subsidize next year and create an illusion of a $6.7% average rate increase! TCC have chosen NOT to openly disclose the staff numbers relevant to the CCOs, which are suspected of having NOT secured the efficiencies promised with increased numbers and costs. Transparency is a rapidly diminishing philosophy at TCC with elected members choosing to rebrand public workshops as secret briefings and confidentiality being used increasingly to restrict public access to information and knowing the contribution to debate of individual elected members.
