I own a 2014 Ram Sport with a 6 lift kit fitted out with Mickey Thompson 35 Baja ATZ P3 Tyres mounted on XD Rockstar 2 wheels. When I first drove my bakkie on the N2, I noticed a shuddering and severe shaking at speeds close to 120km/h. I contacted the dealer and had the vehicle sent back for a rebalance at one of South Africas leading tyre fitment centres. Despite using the very latest tyre balancing equipment, when I got the vehicle back it was still very unstable at high speeds. After doing research and reading several forums I came across a product called Dyna Beads, precise ceramic ball bearings which claim to completely eliminate wobble in large SUV and motorcycle tyres. The local supplier in South Africa is Tim Bishop at Extreme Balancing in P.E. who confirmed I only required an 8 oz bag for each tyre and then promptly shipped my order via a courier service. The tyre bead was broken on one side of the tyre and the entire packet of Dyna Beads placed in the concave area of the tyre opposite the valve stem and then re-inflated. Once back on the road, the difference was a dramatically smoother ride free of any vibration. The existing weights were left on the backside of the wheel and did not interfere whatsoever with the handling. Whereas previously driving at speeds around 120km/h felt unsafe, now there is a sense of confidence and control. I even took the vehicle up to 140km/h for a short time and the tyres did not miss a beat, offering a smooth and stable ride.
