This time 11 years ago, I had been at the Rosie Maternity Hospital for 3 days. I had determined that I was going to write a stern letter to my MP about how useless the NHS were at getting babies out of my wife. As more and more senior medical staff came in and looked at my sleeping wife and the various baby monitors attached to her and scratched their heads and the fourth midwife left and another arrived, my anxiety levels had reached crisis point. At around 10.30 I went and put some medium sized scrubs on ( not a nice look) and joined my wife and 5 doctors, two nurses, a midwife and a lot of machines that went ping in a theatre to drag my Daughter kicking and screaming into the world. I never wrote that letter, because eventually, when they sucked loads of gunk out of her and cleaned off most of the poo, they handed me my beautiful baby daughter. Happy birthday Lily Willow Ivy.
