This very specific and statistically irrelevant example of a welfare recipient (of under one year, who has a contractual reason for making this choice that also relates to the reason he anticipates having an income in the next year) is Fox Newss current superstar. Hes not even as dumb as he looks, and is actually investing in his future earnings by subjecting himself to this nonsense (hes able to promote his band). This irritates me so much—I live in a neighborhood where people use food stamps all the time, and guess what? I think they need them. For food. I think that some of them collect recyclables out of our neighborhood garbage to cash the bottles and cans in. THAT is work. I wish the media, specifically particular outlets, would just acknowledge gray areas and complexities rather than focusing on their favorite example of a worst-case scenario when it comes to this stuff. This guy isnt even a worst-case scenario, honestly. Using him as a relevant example is ethically ridiculous.
