This video of Marjorie Barstow at the young age of 87 yrs working with musicians is wonderful. You can see how Marj helps the musicians discover new ways of being co-ordinated while playing! The principles of Alexander Technique are used in activity - its not separate or removed ... it is directly applicable to playing and you practice it while playing. the Sydney Alexander Technique school is based on a Marjorie Barstow approach to teaching AT. Greg (Director of Sydney Alexander Technique) - worked with Marj in Sydney at the next summer workshop - 27 years ago. At the time he was a professional dancer, an injured dancer. This was when he decided to train as an Alexander Technique teacher! And he has never looked back - to this day still passionate and engaged with helping people find their optimal co ordination and freedom in movement.
