This was a bittersweet weekend. The gentleman in this photo is my friend Victor. Victor and I became friends earlier this year at Showmans Jazz although he had been a Showmans regular from way back when. Always, sweet and always a gentleman just looking for happiness like many of us are. We chatted last week and talked about life, Harlem past and with his wicked sense of humor, we had many laughs. Last night I learned that he suffered a massive stroke this past Thursday and passed away. Completely knocked the wind out of me and left me in shock. So very disturbing at the rate at which people are here one minute and gone the next just like that! Its the 6th person I know since September that has passed away. A lesson to all who keep wasting their lives with pettiness, nonsense, fear, anger loveless relationships and life in general. Live life to the fullest and pursue your happiness with every ounce of energy and passion you have inside cause truly Tomorrow is not promised to anyone especially YOU! RIP Victor. You will be missed.
