This was a posting that came in from one of my past Coaches. In all of my interviews I give wrestling my thanks for helping me to have achieve success in all areas of my life. Wrestling is now in danger.........so without further ado.........I give the floor to you, Coach Al Bevilacqua. To all Dans Fans- I met Dan as a high school senior. He qualified for the AAU World Jr. Team in 1975. I was the coach at the time and we wrestled on a Pre-Olympic Tour Canada as they were hosting the Olympic Games in 1976 in Montreal. We trained at Brockport and began our trip to the Fergus Games where we wrestled outside where the competition began. It was neat...the Fergus Games..what started as a small crowd to watch our wrestling by the end of the dual we had over 20,000 sitting on the hills viewing freestyle wrestling. In 1985, we met again as he just graduated from Arizona State as an All-American and he made the USAW Tibilisi Team throughout the Soviet Union. Out first match was in Moscow with a packed house & a packed team. Remember-the Soviet Union boycotted the 1984 Olympics in LA and wanted to bury us. They did not bury us....they almost killed us as the only winner we had was Dan pinning a world champion with his patented front headlock to a cradle. Wrestling is very proud of Dans success in UFC/MMA and all the other world class wrestlers who also participate in MMA. Dan is allowing me to ask all of you to please help us find our fan base. We had Dana in Times Square watching our USA vs Russia dual in May and is also helping us with our fan base. If you have not done so, would you consider helping us to quantify our base so we can reach advertisers who spend Corporate Dollars on TV Commercials.
