This was a sad weekend as we said goodbye to Mark Taddeo aka FranQ aka Q Mack One aka The Silent Surfer aka so many other nicknames. But with heavy hearts we forged even stronger friendships and learned how lucky we are to have each other and how precious our time with one another actually is. Mark would have loved that we all got together to celebrate him and the many lessons he taught us. Chief among them, as Erin Hynes Taddeo reminded me last night, happened one day when I was complaining to Mark that I was stressed about work. He looked at me and said, Well bro the only advice I can give you is, keep it simple. He didnt elaborate but I knew what he meant. And it blew my mind. He was a simple, happy person who never overcomplicated life. Need a break? Go for a hike. Feeling lost? Say a prayer. Looking for some fun? Join me for a frosty mug. His point was that we have to live life as it comes...Stay in the moment (he always did)...Dont hold onto anger (he never did)... And choose to have a happy day. Well, FranQy, my headache is confirmation that we raised many, many frosty mugs on your behalf this weekend. But today, as I spend time with my mom, dad, sister and brothers and then head home to hug my wife and kids, I promise to keep it simple.
