This was a tragedy. But, something really bothers me about this. Mr. Rojas was taken to COUNTY. Why? Because PIH closed its trauma center back in 1989 and has yet to reopen it. Now, I find this utterly disturbing. If anyone suffers trauma in this area, we have to be taken to St. Marys in Long Beach, County or Huntington Memorial in Pasadena. Those are the CLOSEST Trauma Centers! And, if you lack insurance, folks, you go straight to County! Why does PIH not have a Trauma Center??? They are a large hospital. They should have a trauma center.
