This was also the premier of the Yamaha GX-1. For all the work that was done on synthesizers by Robert Moog and Alan Robert Perlman [Moog and ARP, respectively] ....this was the one which took the nature of synthesizers to a new level. Yes, it was analog and polyphonic, but what it was able to reproduce was and is STILL amazing. Put another way, one cannot really tell the difference bet the horn sounds produced by this keyboard and the actual horns which are commonly associated with Fanfare for the Common Man. It was also this device that helped to set the stage for not only better and more expressive synthesizers by Yamaha, but also Hohner, Roland, EMu, Korg, Biotrone, Kurzweil, Casio and many others. In addition to this showing up on ELPs Works Volume 1 and the Live Works DVD, this is one of two performance videos featuring ELP and the keyboard. Ironically, both were produced at Montreals Olympic Stadium and played live [even though in this one, its the dead of winter]. The other is on the previously mentioned Live Works collection, which features their handpicked orchestra.
