(This was an article in the latest edition of the Christian Courier, Im only going to post the last part because thats what I want to discuss.) WHY DO YOU REFER TO THE LAND OF ISRAEL AS PALESTINE? Here is the important point: The land was given by God to Israel PROVISIONALLY. That is, it would remain theirs only so long as they remained faithful to the Lord (Josh. 21:43-45, 23:14-16) Of course, as every serious Bible student should know, the right to that territory was forfeited -- COMPLETELY FORFEITED -- twenty centuries ago. Israels culminating act of rebellion, the crucifixion of their own Messiah, was the final filling up of that measure of wickedness that characterized their fathers (Matt. 23:29[-32]) That land no longer belongs to Israel by divine right. The plain fact of the matter is this: Gods favor today is restricted to a SPIRITUAL NATION comprised of all people of any ethnic background who have been born into Christs kingdom (John 3:3-5). Todays real Israel is the kingdom of Christ (Matt. 21:43; Rom. 2:28-29; Gal. 6:16; 1 Pet. 2:9). ============================================== Heres my question: If this is true, then is Jesus going to rule over PHYSICAL Israel, physical AND spiritual Israel, or SPIRITUAL Israel when He returns? Because heres how I see it. . . Luke 21:24 says, Some will be killed by the sword, and others will be taken as prisoners to all countries; and the heathen will trample over Jerusalem until their time is up. (GNT) How I interpret until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled (KJV) is in relation to what Paul said in [Matt. 10:14, Mark 6:11] Luke 9:5. . . And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them. 1) Paul decided witnessing to the Gentiles was a better thing to do because they would be more receptive to the Word than the Jews were. Because the Gentiles were more receptive, they were converted and made up the Church (a majority of the Church, that is, since there were also some Jews who believed.) 2) When Christ returns, the Gentiles reign over Israel, esp. Jerusalem, would be over since Jesus told the Jews in Matt. 23:39. . . I can guarantee that you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! (GW) Since the conversion of the Jews would come, THEN comes the spiritual Israel! When Jesus comes, He comes with the Church as His bride to reign over spiritual AND physical Israel forever. Since I believe my view is correct, I also believe that this destroys any replacement theology that anyone may claim. What do you think? bit.ly/1oeS9Hu
