This was posted a while back, but I am posting it again because today I became involved in a similar story. A dog looking almost like pitiful creature in this video was lying by the entrance of one of my haunts in San Miguel de Allende, Cafe Monet. Another animal lover discovered it there, found a cardboard box to put it in to confine it while she went for water and food. The cafe owner came out with some scraps and the woman brough a small container of water. This dog looked exactly like my Charley would look if he had been left to fend for himself for probably more than a year. Horribly matted, hungry and scared. I had walked up to catch my bus when I saw people looking in the box and assumed someone was selling or giving away puppies..not an uncommon sight here. I took one look in the box and started bawling. Seeing how I responded the woman asked me if I could take it home. Of course I couldnt and explained that I was just visiting, didnt have a car, and couldnt bring it back to the casita I am renting but that if she could get it to a vet and groomer I would pay the expenses. Another woman(they knew each other) decided to get involved and began calling. It is Sunday and a holiday week-end to boot. Everything was closed, but the second woman finally reached another friend who was willing to come in her car and drive them with the dog to what is billed as a 24 hour Emergency Pet hospital. If it turned out to be closed for the holiday, one of them would keep it on their patio or in their courtyard until
