I would like to know how anyone can disagree with the following pledge: PLEDGE OF UNDERSTANDING I pledge my understanding of the following basic principle that gave birth to democracy: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. I understand that “unalienable” means that the government cannot give these rights, nor can it take them away, they are mine (and all of ours) simply because the laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitles me (us) to them. Please repost this and see what response you get. I think that this is the principle that has and will allow our great country to endure. It elevates each and every one of us, simply because we are human, to respect and dignity, no matter what our stage in life is, no matter what our disabilities or abilities are. Never forget that such dignity is due to every one, because they are so endowed.
