This was so that, by two unchangeable things [His promise and His oath] in which it is impossible for God ever to prove false or deceive us, we who have fled [to Him] for refuge might have mighty indwelling strength and strong encouragement to grasp and hold fast the hope appointed for us and set before [us]. (Hebrews 6:18) Father, Your promises are sure because You cannot lie, You will not repent from the oath You have made and You are true to Your nature. Because You have purposed, from the foundation of the world the destruction of the unbeliever and the salvation of the believer and Your word is forever settled in heaven (between Father, Son and Spirit) You will perform what You have spoken. You have given to us the earnest of Your Spirit as a down payment of better things to come, You have secured our inheritance in Christ’s (the object of our hope) redemption, which is a sufficient consolation in the worst of times and conditions and under the heaviest trials and the Gospel is sufficient to anchor our souls. Therefore Father, we wait on You to wait on us; complete the work You have started.
