This was such a powerful answer to a college students question of why was America the greatest country in the world?. To learn ... we are truly not the greatest country any longer. Several people give the same trite answers we have heard all our lives.... but one gentleman set the record straight. . WE USE TO BE THE GREATEST COUNTRY in the world..... but we are no longer. As I remember what my life was like growing up compared to what life is like today for young people, all I can say is dont give up on hope. People of the USA are strong and resilient but need to find courage to take risks and work together as a whole. When we go back to helping our neighbors, and creating communities where we all work together to support each other especially in times of need... we not only build good communities, but we provide hope for all, we build trust and better communication skills. We get the young to work with the old and the old to work with the young. We make people feel valuable.. because we are all valuable. And when people feel their own value they are empowered and learn to contribute rather than feeling entitled and expecting everyone else to take care of them. Unfortunately we are a nation as a whole that has become numb to living. We have many many good people in this country as well as on this entire earth. Just look at how when there are tragic disasters how people come together... so why dont we always do that... why does it take devastation to motivate?? When you look at the government here.... doesnt matter what party line you prefer.. the problem is far greater than which party has control.... because the bottom line is there are very few politicians who really care about THE PEOPLE. Oh dont get me wrong there are some that do and really try to serve the people, but unfortunately most are more worried about their own pocket books. GREED, CONTROL, and POWER have the hearts of the ones who seem to yield the most power. The ones who support the companies who do more harm than good. This was a country that use to support good moral values, the freedom of belief, hard work and discipline. If we can find our way back to making decisions on real values we can once again become the greatest country again. We just need to realize there are sound reasons for supporting moral values, freedom to have the faith you choose, to work hard, and use discipline as a guide line for making decisions..... and to realize this has to be done for everyone of us and not just a few select people. Please I am open to hearing what any of you who read this have to say. Please respond.
