This week 3rd and 4th graders are beginning a unit on balloon cars. We are starting with videos on how to make them and a video to watch a race in action. The unit will involve understanding concepts and ideas behind building a car, creating a design, building the design, testing and racing. The students will have a number of materials to create the cars however, they have been told if they want to spice it up they are required to bring their own materials such as: extra building supplies, fancy duct tape, stickers and anything else to add to their car. We could use a few donations for this activity: balloons, flattened cereal and cracker boxes, straws, duct tape and masking tape.
