A certain sleepy filly had to wake up and do some work today much to her disgust. Warmed up in round-yard before practicing her walk/whoa (stood on crate whilst she worked around me) and weight over her back either side (had her turn around me, rather than myself swapping sides etc). Gave her a bit of a break before we headed up to the arena (stopping on the way to check out the mounting stairs -well do some work with these over the next few days, just getting her used to them and more comfortable with them in presence) where we worked on our drop tying, and did a bit more lunging, on a larger circle, practicing her walk/whoa and walk/trot, trot/walk, just getting her transitions sharper. She did very well, trot/walk transitions are coming along nicely, still plenty of practice to do, but shes getting there in the few sessions weve done practice on it. Gave her another break just free in the arena as she followed me around and we checked out some cones, before doing a handful more circles of walk/trot/walk/whoa, back up without contact/pressure just voice, and then her turning each direction I move, having her turn with me. We called it quits and had a nice grooming session (a German girl watched us for a bit in the arena and helped to give Aspen a mane/tail brush - suprise suprise Aspen liked her! Wow someone got approval hahah mares). All in all, a good day!
