This week begins Jimmy V week. His words and his ESPY speech in 1993 when receiving the Arthur Ashe Award served to play a great part in saving my life, in keeping me strong, He was sort of a hero of mine. I was there in The Pit in Albuquerque in 1983, when his North Carolina State Wolfpack upset heavily favored Phi Slamma Jamma, the Houston Cougars to win the National NCAA Basketball Championship. He was so very special. I love his ESPY speech, when he was riddled with cancer, 10 years later, and his heart and his courage, his fight which never stopped. That speech has many valuable lessons in it, and if you are unfamiliar with it, I am including it here. I watched this speech, at least once a week when I was so close to making the trip with end stage liver disease.. Let me note on this video, two things or three.....His motto, Dont ever give up! His creed for the three things to do every day to create a special life, and the courage with which he fought. Let me also give you a stat. in the 20th year of his Foundation for Cancer Research, The Jimmy V Foundation last January donated over $100 Million dollars to cancer research.
