This week is Deaf Dog Awareness Week and as luck would have it, - TopicsExpress

This week is Deaf Dog Awareness Week and as luck would have it, guess what??!! We have TWO deaf puppies! Yes, its true. We knew it was possible because of the recessive gene in white dogs, and we have watched our puppies develop carefully...one of them, Cloud, was very apparent early, when she didnt wake up when we came in with food like the other puppies, and now we realize, Mouse, the teeny tiny runt in the bunch is also, not responding when shes asleep AND both of them make very different sounds from the other puppies. Cloud has blue eyes (another common factor) and Mouse has brown eyes. No matter though. They are all so super adorable, we know well find great homes for them. Even the deaf babies - it will just take someone special to adopt them. Mouse has struggled with her health and is still about 1/3 the size of her siblings. She just started off so much more compromised than they did. She is finally gaining weight and acting more like a normal puppy now and we think she is over the hump. The puppies are 6.5 weeks old now. Here are their puppy portraits (or as close as we could get to a portrait with a wiggly puppy). DNA results should come back in the next week or two and well be able to confirm their breed/mix. Below are: Thunder, Storm, Cloud, Breeze and Mouse!
