This week marked the anniversary of the death of Pastor Leo C. - TopicsExpress

This week marked the anniversary of the death of Pastor Leo C. Harris. Pastor Harris often talked about the many churches raised up under his leadership (some 100 or so in Oz., NZ. and PNG) as a fellowship of likeminded church leaders. He described the movement as being an umbrella covering self-governing, independent but interdependent local churches, such that even non-member churches would be comfortable, and unthreatened in the fellowship. A movement knit together by the love (agape) of God – how Bible based is that! LCH was a really unique man of God with a deep and enduring faith in His Master – aware that ‘I (Jesus) will build My church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it’ (Matt.16:18). Was he an unrealistic purest? After the ratification of the movement Charter he opened the bottom drawer of his desk and filed the completed charter documents saying to the elders present, ‘if we ever have to use these our problem is already terminal.’ How many Christian movements became monuments within 100years of the founder’s death! History tells no lies. Agape love may take longer but it works deep within all of us.
