This week on FOD: Celebrating International David Archuleta Fans One of the most wondrous things about David Archuleta fan is that you can make a like minded friend from anywhere in the world, since David’s music has no political boundaries! FOD has its roots in the US, but David’s fan family spreads across the world, and we appreciate all the international fans who drop by daily to read the front page and in many cases comment. So this week, as a special FOD feature, we have asked a number of fans from around the world to write a few paragraphs on what makes the Archu-world so small; specifically, what it’s like to be an international David Archuleta fan. We asked them to tell us who they are, what drew them to David, what keeps them as fans, and what special challenges exist as an international fan. I hope we all learn from our world-wide families in their stories! Our first profile is my friend Hari from Indonesia. I met Hari on-line after noticing some awesome buttons created by the Indonesian fans. She was generous enough to send me a set. The Indonesian fans are dedicated, enthusiastic and love David. Here’s her story! I’ve been an Archie about 5 years since he’s been on American Idol. After that show, I hadn’t heard anything about him for 1 year coz I hadn’t been active using internet till one day when I was in book store, accidently I saw David on a magazine cover, that made me so happy and without thinking any longer I bought it, a special edition of David Archuleta magazine :D . I knew his twitter account from his magazine and decided to make a Twitter account special for fangirling hahaha. I have no regrets in making this account coz I made friends with Archies around the world. Isn’t great to have a lot friends? :D Since none of my friends are Archies (only me) who always talked bout him, my friends said that I am obsessed with him, but that’s not true. I knew he was a shy man, has great voice and music but it’s not only about that. There are so many things that I learn from him: his attitude, his low profile, loving to share, funny things he said without even trying hahaha. Sometimes I am envious of American Archies where it seems much easier to meet him, watch his concerts live, take a picture, shake hands, hug, or just ask for his signature. I wonder when I will meet him, maybe someday. I always believe Good things come those who wait. Although he came to my country I had no chance to attend his concert since I was in final mid terms that week. But I am always happy to watch his concerts via live streaming or Youtube that Archies always do to share with other Archies who can’t come. I feel like I was there (I wish). To them I say, Thank You Archies! Since Indonesia is a large country which has a lot of islands, Indonesian Archies are separated by the sea that make it difficult to gather. And more importantly, Archies around the world live in different time zones so sometimes we misunderstand about times when Archies have trending parties (Indonesia has 3 Time zones). Sometimes when I just wake up, David had twitter party a minutes ago, it feels like I missed something haha. One more challenge: since it’s difficult to find his albums in my place, Archies always help me to get them. They gave me gifts or I ordered his album for other Archies. There’s always a way to get his stuff! Thank you David for being my inspiration so I always to be a good person and because of you I have a lot friends. That’s the point to be a fan ~ it’s not just about that we like that artist, but what we can learn from the artist that can impact our lives :D Hari
