This week on Fort Benning: We will auction off a whole bunch of abandoned vehicles at 9am September 9 at the NAF Property Warehouse Auto Lot on Fort Benning’s Prussman Street. More than 50 vehicles, including cars, trucks, trailers and SUVs will be sold to the highest bidder. You can view the merchandise from 9am-2pm today. We’ll reschedule the auction for September 10 if it rains us out. Preschool Story Hour starts at 10am Tuesday at Sayers Memorial Library on Main Post. Newcomers Orientation is 9-11am Wednesday at Buidling 7 on Baltzell Avenue. Its free, its open to everyone, and we throw in breakfast as a bonus. Learn to protect yourself from identity theft and defend yourself should your credit come under attack. Join us for a free class from noon-2pm September 11 at ACS Headquarters , Building 7 on Baltzell Avenue. Bring a lunch if you like. To register, call 706-545-6934. Join us for free Movies Under the Stars in Friday at Wetherby Field, and well show The Lego Movie. Shows start at 8:30pm. We’ll dole out free popcorn, while supplies last, but save room for a funnel cake from Dusty Bob’s! Bring blankets and lawn chairs, but leave your pets at home. We make exceptions for service animals. Guests younger than 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Today - Monday! - is the deadline to register for our trip to Panama City Beach in Florida September 12-15. Stay at the Edgewater Beach and Golf resort for $200 per person, including transportation and double occupancy. This trip is for active duty service members and their guests 18 and older. The Fort Benning Doughboys take on the Greenville Firebirds in our season opener at 4pm Saturday at Doughboy Stadium on Main Post. This is free and open to the public. Wear your black and gold to support your favorite Fort Benning football team. After the game, head over to York Field and enjoy Kool & the Gang in a free concert at 6pm Saturday. Special guests include RaeLynn and Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown. This free event is open to the public. York Field is located in front of McGinnis-Wickam Hall, Building 4, on Eckel Avenue.
