This week we remember …… An initiative of Hunter Valley Military History to commemorate the service and sacrifice of those who paid the supreme sacrifice to keep Australia free. Sunday 4th April to Saturday 10th May 2014. No Hunter Valley soldier is recorded as dying this week in the Sudan War of 1885. No Hunter Valley naval reservist is recorded as dying this week in the Chinese Boxer Rebellion of 1900 –1901. No Hunter Valley troopers are recorded as dying this week in the South African Boer War of 1899 –1902. Sixty one Hunter Valley men are listed as dying this week during the First World War of 1914-1918. Seven are recorded as dying this week in 1915; 1 in 1916; 28 in 1917 and 25 in 1918.
