This weekend I traveled out of town to a conference to minister in music with the praise team for this conference. On the roadtrip to get there, I was gazing out the window. As we passed this one field, what caught my attention was that the field was dark EXCEPT for a strip in the middle that was lit up with sunshine sooooo bright. So as I found myself staring at the field that was dark on both sides and bright in the middle, I kept hearing, “keep your eyes on the light.” I just kinda thought, well ok. The weekend held many things. It was a time of revelation, it was a time of growth, it was a time of bonding with the family God had me surrounded with, and it was a time of definition and redefining my purpose in HIM, in Christ Jesus! I was coming to work this morning and the vision of that field came back to my mind. Sometimes things can seem dark all around you. And in that darkness can lurk many things…sadness, confusion, heaviness, depression, oppression, grief, brokenness, hurt…broken minds, broken hearts, broken spirits, and broken souls! BUT, if you will keep your eyes on the light and allow it to surround your being, in that light is the presence of joy, happiness, peace, gentleness, healing, deliverance from brokenness, sound mind, soaring spirit, mended hearts, lots of love, hope, and a knowing that God’s got this! Did you just hear what I said? GOD’S GOT THIS! No matter what you have faced, no matter what you are facing, no matter what you will face…GOD’S GOT THIS, GOD’S GOT YOU, GOD’S GOT IT ALL! You don’t have to fear anything because God is the light that surrounds you. You cannot be overtaken by anything lurking in the darkness on any side of you or your life. How amazing is that!?!?!?! Psalm 27:1 (NKJV) The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? Isaiah 60:20 (NKJV) Your sun shall no longer go down, Nor shall your moon withdraw itself; For the Lord will be your everlasting light, And the days of your mourning shall be ended. John 8:12 (NKJV) Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 12:35-36 (NKJV) 35 Then Jesus said to them, “A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going. 36 While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.” These things Jesus spoke, and departed, and was hidden from them. John 12:44-46 (NKJV) 44 Then Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me. 45 And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me. 46 I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.” Ephesians 5:8-10 (NKJV) 8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 5:5 (NKJV) You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. 1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV) But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light 1 John 1:5 (NKJV) This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. Revelation 21:23 (NKJV) The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. JESUS IS THE LIGHT!! Walk in His light and His goodness and His love and His newness! Don’t allow the darkness that lurks on the sides of the light scare you. Keep your eyes focused on Jesus and on His light and allow all that warmth from the light to envelop (to enclose or enfold completely with or as if with a covering; to surround entirely) you. Darkness CANNOT exist in the presence of the light. Just a little food for thought and encouragement this morning. Walk in His newness and His light today! Be blessed my friends.
