This weekend I watched three Science Fiction features were showing at Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival: ECHO DRIVE, a thriller about a man who stations an android security guard to protect his home; DUST OF WAR, which is a real action film with ROAD WARRIOR overtones; and LONDON UNDERGROUND, about hip freedom fighters against a totalitarian, alien controlled government, which climaxes with a giant robot vs. giant monster battle. ECHO DRIVE, which makes excellent use of its primary location and small cast, will appeal to fans of WESTWORLD and THE TERMINATOR. DUST OF WAR features an excellent performance by Gary Graham (Robot Jox, Alien Nation) and appearance by Tony Todd and Doug Jones, and some really good fight scenes - I really cared about the characters. And LONDON UNDERGROUND is this years This is crazy! movie. with truly impressive space ships, dogfights, and other effects, and a really likeable young cast. I showed them all to my wife, who doesnt really like horror, and she had a great time with them.
