This weekend I worked on replacing the exterior window molding on the house. I just have to rant on piss poor installation of builder grade components. Builder grade is OK in the right circumstances but you have to take extra care to do it right. Otherwise the trade(less)sman just dumps his crap on the homeowner a few years down the line. This is what happens when the wood is not sealed and the moisture collects behind the trim which was not sealed. Even the sheathing was starting to crumble. I have replaced the trim on every window on the 1st floor with the new composite molding. Dont even want to think about the 2nd floor this fall! Next post will show the repair process.
