This weekend a truly special woman passed away. They say that certain people come into your life and leave footprints. Well, Hannelore Banks did much more than that for me. She redirected the path of my life. Al and I met Hanne and her husband, George thirteen years ago when a mutual friend suggested they might like to be witnesses for us at our marriage ceremony in Mexico. They were retired and spent their time going back and forth between their homes in New York and Playa Del Carmen. They showed us that just because you get older and retire, your life doesn’t have stop or get boring. They continued to be interesting, vibrant, happy people and we enjoyed their company immensely over the years. I am so sad that she will no longer be a part of my life. I can’t imagine a trip to Mexico and not spending a day with them or never going to a dinner party at their house in NY. She will be missed by so many people. But one thing I know – George will not be saying “I wish we had done this or if only we had done that”. Because life was an adventure to them and they lived it to the fullest.
