This weeks bulletin: Dear Friends in Christ: I have good news and that is through your generosity we have been able to pay off the debt to the Archdiocese. I personally delivered a $20,000 check this past week and now the Archdiocesan debt, along with the interest we were paying, is a thing of history. I want to thank everyone who helped contribute to this matter. You generosity never ceases to amaze me. With this development, we only have one debt remaining. That is the good news. The bad news is that we are still 6.6 million dollars in debt. Our one remaining bond is held by a large religious order in the lower 48 and as you remember we recently had the interest rate reduced from 6.5% to 3%. These weeks, I am meeting with both our Stewardship and Development Committee as well as our Finance Council, to devise a structured way of attacking the remaining debt. In the meanwhile, please continue in your generosity which has been so inspiring. We still need to pay off a tremendous debt and our ongoing expenses are tremendous. During the Winter months, it costs us about $6000 a month to heat our beautiful church building. On average, we pay more than $2000 a month for electricity. Our dedicated but very small staff works hard for our community but it is the generosity of the time and talent of so many volunteers that keeps our church maintained and clean. A couple of years ago, we put up the giving tree in the narthex. Again, your past generosity is most appreciated. We try to put leaves (requests) on the tree for the practical day to day needs of our parish so helping with those needs in effect helps us to pay down our debt and keep current with all our bills. I give thanks for your continued goodness and generosity. Peace in Christ, Fr. Thomas T. Brundage Pastor
