This will be a slow moving storm lasting from Monday night into Wednesday. Unlike the last storm, the ingredients for a very major snowstorm will be in place., As I said yesterday, high pressure centered over southeastern Canada will allow plenty of cold air. We will also have some blocking to the northeast of the storm, this is why it will be moving so slow. , We have our clipper moving southeast out of the Midwest, it will transfer its energy off the coast south of the Delmarva peninsula. The coastal low will track north and east passing somewhere near the 40/70 benchmark (most likely inside the benchmark) Tuesday morning. The storm is going to bomb south of New England late Monday into Tuesday.. By early Tuesday morning the storm will be really wound up. Winds will be gusting 50-70 mph along the New Jersey coast, New York City, Long Island, and Southern New England..... Winds will lead to Moderate to major coastal flooding. I expect to see a lot of beach erosion. A foot to three feet is possible from Philadelphia , through New York City and most of New England. The high winds will cause blizzard conditions. Because we have a lot of cold air in place, this wont be a wet snow....snow ratios look to be 12/14 to 1 inland and 10/12 to 1 along the coast. dont be surprised if you hear thundersnow in the above areas. Our noreaster will bring significant snowfall eastern New York State, parts of eastern Pennsylvania, and all of New England. From New York City, eastern Connecticut, eastern Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine will see the most snow. The Cape and Nantucket will come in the lower side of what is shown...... most likely 12-16 inches. This will be a high impact storm, with white-outs and near to impossible travel conditions by Tuesday morning. I urge everyone in the path of this storm to prepare now....localized to widespread power outages are very possible. As I said the other day, this storm will have an impact much like the lindsay snowstorm back in Feb of 1969. I will post the Pennsylvania and Mid Atlantic Maps later.... ran out of time making the first two...but you will still get the gist.
