This young man got into Potiphar’s house in the strange land, yet God was with him. Joseph was a true lover and worshiper of God. He feared God. The bible refers to this. Let us consider his heart and statement here. “And after a while his master’s wife took notice of Joseph and said, “Come to bed with me!” But he refused. “With me in charge”, he told her, “my master does not concern himself with anything in the house; everything he owns he has entrusted to my care. No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?” And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her or even be with her”. - Genesis 39:7-10. Some young men of today would have thought that to be a golden opportunity. However, it was not so for Joseph. He knew he was a man of purpose, and that he must not trade his destiny for a short and fleeting pleasure, despite the woman’s persistence. He took his stand, knowing full-well that such a deed would not only be against his master but against God also. See how deep his understanding, revelation and reverence for God were! He never sold his direction in life for his erection. He passed all the texts and got to his throne. The bible also says in 1 Corinthians 2:7-9 - “No, we speak of God’s secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him”. If you truly love the Lord (no matter the trials, temptations and alluring offers from Satan coming to you when you are going through God’s process), you will never give in nor trade your destiny at God’s expense.
